Think of yourself and the environment – leave the car at home. To come to Dresden and visit the city you do not need a car. On the contrary, you would rather miss the opportunity to discover life, people and many small insignificant things.

The city of Dresden and the Villa Barbara are excellent linked to the public transport network. The airport is not big but very modern. Every day about 60 aircrafts from Lufthansa and German Wings and many others start and land here. Directly below the terminal the city-train S-Bahn S2 goes every 30 minutes to the two main railway stations and the city center. If you buy right here a day and long time ticket of the Dresden transportation company DVB, you can use it throughout the city during your stay. From the airport to the city center or the Villa Barbara it takes about 20 minutes.

With the first German fast train line between Dresden and Leipzig the city has a long impressive railway history. The original route is located just 200 meters from the Villa Barbara. The major north – south route from Scandinavia passing Berlin to Prague, Vienna, Budapest until the Orient runs through Dresden. Westward over Leipzig there are numerous very good and comfortable trains of Deutsche Bahn which are constantly being improved in terms of time. How to get fast and easy to the Villa Barbara from the railway stations you can see in directions.

An interesting and cheap alternative to the car offer bus coaches which are already well established in Dresden. At the train station Dresden-Neustadt there is a main bus stop. You can find cheap deals e.g. at Flixbus.

Once in Dresden you will be surprised by the very well-developed and superbly networked system of the Dresden transportation company DVB. With modern low-floor trams, hybrid buzzing buses and futuristic illuminated double-floor city trains to really fair prices and meticulous punctuality the journey is a great fun.

30 meters from the Villa Barbara the square Trachenberger Platz is located. Here the tram 3 and the busses 70 and 64 run every 10 minutes, soon even every 5 minutes, in a short time to the city center. The city train S-Bahn just 200 meters away is besides as connection to the main train stations and to the airport the best way to discover the surrounding area. To travel by the city train to the town of porcelain Meissen and especially to the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, the fortress Königstein and the bastion is just recommended as you need at least the same time by car and you would really miss the beautiful journey through the Elbe valley along to the river. Incidentally, you can also take your bikes free of charge and cover a distance of the wonderful Elbe Cycle Route by bike.

Do not worry you will not starve without a car! At the square Trachenberger Platz 30 meters away there is a netto-supermarket with a separate butcher and baker open from Monday to Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. In the neighborhood you will find a Turkish and an Indian restaurant and a café. Also for a slightly superior proposal can find just 200 meters a Konsum and a brand new large Edeka supermarket.

So, there are not good reasons for the car. The environment and your soul will thank you!
